With a lot of consumers opting for smaller SUVs instead of the typical sedan, it’s up to automotive manufacturers to make sure their SUV lineups are fully formed and able to appeal to the masses. This is why Chevrolet has the new 2020 Chevy Trax available to help push the limits on what compact SUVs are capable of. For many of you that are interested in purchasing a smaller vehicle, the only option would be some sedan or a compact SUV, and the idea of owning an SUV can be far more intriguing than going with the everyday car. The 2020 Chevy Trax can combine excellent fuel economy, plenty of versatility, and spacious cargo volume rolled into one very affordable package.
Chevy has been known for putting reliable SUVs onto the road for generations now, and its modern SUV lineup contains ever-popular favorites such as the Suburban, Tahoe, Traverse, and Equinox. The Trax currently sits between the all-new Trailblazer and Equinox in a position that has become the ideal spot for many SUV enthusiasts out there. If you’re looking for something that is decidedly not a car, but also not a full-size SUV that almost functions like a small bus, the 2020 Chevy Trax could be the right fit for you. It’s quite compact and still spacious enough to fit up to five passengers along with some gear in the back. Or, you could always lower the 60/40 split-folding rear bench seat for some additional cargo space to fit everything you need for an adventure with a friend. And with the available AWD, you can confidently get to your favorite camping spot and hiking trails knowing you have an advanced system keeping constant track of your vehicle’s wheels and automatically making adjustments to traction as you drive.
While you won’t be fitting an entire team of people into the 2020 Chevy Trax, you can rest assured that it will be a fun experience for you and a few of your friends and family members. Besides, the point of a compact SUV like the Trax is to create maximum enjoyment out of something small. It’s more personalized, which is why so many people love it. The best way to see what 2020 Chevy Trax would be the best fit for you is by taking a more detailed look at the different models available for this year. It’s common knowledge that the basic model will come with the fewest number of advanced safety and technology features, but it will also come with the lowest price tag. Any models between the lowest and highest priced models will have a delicate balance of features while still not getting too pricey, either. The highest-priced model will always have the best options and features that are available on the vehicle. On the 2020 Chevy Trax, you’ll find three different trim levels available, ranging from the Trax LS ($22,295), LT ($24,195), and Premier ($28,295). With just the three trims, it’s easy for you to put them into their respective categories of basic, middle, and high.
The basic Trax LS trim has a very affordable starting MSRP that is much closer to the $20,000 mark than the higher-priced Premier. It also comes with great basic features like the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System with an 8-inch color touchscreen, rear vision camera, ten airbags, and a fold-flat front passenger seat.
Moving up to the Trax LT, you’ll notice that the starting MSRP still falls under the $25,000 mark and thus closer to $20,000 than $30,000. Along with the same features as the Trax LS, the LT also gains standard skid plates, heated power outside mirrors, deep-tinted glass, halogen headlamps, LED daytime lamps and taillamps, and roof-mounted side rails. If anything, the Trax LT looks to be geared more towards off-road adventures and additional conveniences. The added skid plates and included roof-mounted side rails are sure to come in handy when you’re driving over rugged terrain and have extra gear mounted on top of the vehicle.
With the Trax Premier, there are plenty of more additions as well. All-season 18-inch tires and 18-inch wheels become standard additions, along with fog lamps, power sunroof, and a Bose premium 7-speaker audio system. For additional comfort, it should also be noted that a 6-way power driver seat, heated driver and front passenger seats, and leatherette seating are also included.
All trims are available with AWD, although they will all come with FWD as the standard option. Additionally, each model comes equipped with a 1.4L Turbo ECOTEC 4-cylinder engine with an output of 138 hp and 148 lb-ft of torque. This engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
One of the most exciting aspects of any new vehicle is the types of technology features it comes equipped with. As technology continues to become more and more advanced, so do the vehicles we drive. It’s come to be expected that every new car comes with lots of exciting features that can be both convenient and essential. Just about gone are the days of new SUVs that don’t have the availability of advanced infotainment systems, USB ports, or 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspots. In fact, most of these features that were once luxury items have come to be available to just about everyone.
With the 2020 Chevy Trax, every trim level has 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and Chevrolet Connected Access capabilities. This means you can easily use the myChevrolet mobile app to stay up to date on important information regarding your vehicle. Plus, you and all of your passengers can connect multiple devices to the available Wi-Fi hotspot for whatever your internet needs may be. With the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System, it’s easy to connect compatible phones via Bluetooth for audio streaming, voice commands, and other features that may be available through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
There are also many advanced safety features like rear park assist, side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and forward collision alert that come standard on the Trax Premier model. Most of these same features are also available on the Trax LT.
A significant factor when deciding between a car and an SUV is the amount of cargo space that’s available inside the vehicle, plus how well that space can be utilized. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the way most sedans are designed, as trunks can provide quite a bit of cargo space in the right circumstances. With SUVs, though, it’s usually a lot simpler when it comes to packing up your vehicle for a weekend trip or getaway with the family.
On the 2020 Chevy Trax, the 60/40 split-folding rear bench makes it easy for you to lower the rear seats when you need to and put them back up when you don’t. With 48.4 cu.ft. of max cargo volume, there’s plenty of space for all of your gear. If you’re familiar with the Trax’s fold-flat front passenger seat feature, the amount of versatility available to you begins to expand. You can fold both the rear seats and the front passenger seat down to allow for items of up to eight feet long fit within the vehicle. Or you can fold one side of the rear seats down along with the front passenger seat. Or one side of the back seat can be folded down without the front passenger seat being folded as well. The possibilities are almost endless, as there are eight total different seating configurations. These different configurations provide plenty of options when you are traveling with luggage or large items. Space is truly an integral part of an SUV.
