This particular model boasts a 259-mile driving range, and it can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds. That’s faster than most gasoline-powered sedans. Equipped with FWD and a single electric motor, the Bolt EV generates 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque for a more robust experience behind the wheel.
The 2021 Chevy Bolt EV is available in two trim levels, so you can choose between the LT and Premier models. The base LT rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and features automatic high-intensity discharge headlights for enhanced visibility. You can enter the vehicle via the keyless entry system, and it even comes with push-button start technology for more of a racecar feel. Cloth seats greet you and the passengers as you slip inside the cabin. Upon entering the 2021 Chevy Bolt, you will also notice a large 10.2-inch center touchscreen. For the 2022, Chevy has redesigned its beloved Bolt EV and has introduced the brand-new Bolt EUV. These two models are well designed and are sure to excite Chevy fans everywhere.
For 2022 Chevy has some brand new and exciting features to the new lineup. First, the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV and Bolt EUV will be available with Super Cruise. This advanced driving aid will take control of piloting the vehicle without any input from you. It’s almost entirely hands-free. As of now, there are over 200,000 miles of United States roads that are compatible with this state-of-the-art technology. Using a LiDAR mapping system that analyzes the roads, this feature will keep you going on long trips and help to reduce the chances of an accident. It also comes with a Driver Attention System that will monitor your attention to the road. If you look away from the road too frequently or for too long, the automatic driving system will shut off. You will have to take over the steering wheel again. This intelligent feature is offered on the top-of-the-line Premier trim for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV.
As the first fully-electric SUV in the Chevy lineup, the Bolt EUV will be fitted with plenty of safety features, just like the smaller Bolt EV. You will find that both models come equipped with Chevrolet Safety Assist. This well-rounded suite of safety systems includes automatic high beams that toggle to low beams if another vehicle is detected. Front pedestrian braking is also included to protect people walking across the street. Lane-departure warning with lane keep assist both work to help you stay in your designated lane, and forward collision mitigation with automatic emergency braking helps to prevent frontal accidents. Now let’s talk about charging. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV will both come with the Dual-Level Charge Cord. This innovative creation is a changeable plug-in that can be converted between a 120-volt 3-prong outlet to a 240-volt one. In other words, you will be able to replenish the battery storage much faster.
Finally, let’s discuss looks. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV will roll onto our lot with a refreshed front fascia and all-new exterior lighting. Aside from the daytime running lights, the head, tail, and fog lamps will all be new. Keep in mind that the EV is a hatchback model with a rear liftgate.
As for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EUV, this is the first electric SUV in the fleet. Measuring about 6-inches longer than the EV, you will have more room for cargo in this vehicle. Since this is a new model, you can expect to see clean, sleek lines on the outside with a sculpted grille and distinctive face. Signature LED lighting will most likely be standard, along with daytime running lights. Roof rails are also expected for extra storage space.

In September of 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom of California issued an executive order that required all new car and light-duty truck sales to be zero-emission models by 2035. For medium and heavy-duty trucks, the deadline was extended to 2045. While this green initiative will make California the first U.S. state to mandate 100% zero-emission vehicles, you will find that 15 other countries have already been doing this. Phasing out new gas-powered vehicles is the direction in which the world is heading.
However, even without such mandates, people have already been turning to EVs in recent years. These vehicles are no longer toylike clown cars. Now, with a lineup like the Chevy EVs, drivers can enjoy high-tech gadgets, elegant interiors, and longer travel ranges. They are even starting to become more affordable.
Not only are Chevy EV models advanced, pretty, and practical, but they also help you save money and time in the long haul. How many times have you come home from work after an arduous day and said to yourself, “I’ll just stop by the gas station before work in the morning.” Then, when you wake up, you forget about that little promise you made to yourself the day before until you start the engine. Now, you run the risk of being late because you have to go fill up the tank. With Chevy EV models, you no longer have to worry about this. Simply plug the vehicle into the charging port at night, and it will be fully charged when you head out the next day. Plus, expert studies have shown that the average cost of running an EV is about $485 per year compared to $1,117 per year for refueling a gas-powered car. That’s a $632 per year savings.
GM, Chevy's parent company, is working hard to create a battery for EVs that charges quickly, is sustainable, and affordable. These groundbreaking batteries, called Ultium batteries, are what set these GM EVs apart from their competition on the market.
Ultium batteries are unique in that they can be stacked in a variety of ways to save on space. They are large-format pouch-style battery cells that can fit inside the battery pack either horizontally or vertically. If you think back to older EV models, you may recall a lack of space in some due to the battery packs taking up so much room. With these new Ultium batteries, engineers can provide the consumer with more space without compromising on power or range. This is especially true for smaller models such as hatchbacks.
GM's Ultium batteries can be 50 to 200 kWh which equates to up to 450 miles of driving range. It also means that you can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3 seconds with a full charge. Also, keep in mind that the electric motors will be compatible with all drivetrains, including front, rear, four, and all-wheel drive.
At this point, you may be wondering about charging. Ultium batteries are designed for Level 2 charging ports and DC Fast Charging ports as well. Most of the new Chevy EVs will have 400-volt packs and the ability to charge at 200 kW (fast-charging). The truck EV models will come with 800-volt battery packs and the ability to charge at 400 kW (fast-charging). Don’t forget that fast-charging cables typically provide up to 80% power within 30 minutes.
When Chevy first started building pickup trucks, they fell under the now legendary C/K nameplate. At that time, the name Silverado referred to the lineup's most expensive trim level. It stayed that way until 1999, when the all-new Silverado full-size pickup truck line launched in North America, permanently replacing the C/K. Now in its fourth generation, the Silverado is on the cusp of some big and very exciting changes.
To fully understand the scope of its evolution, we need to take a look back at how the Silverado began its journey. Each generation reveals so much about buyer preferences and the full-size pickup landscape. As the years pass, we also witness Chevy's attempts to adapt the Silverado lineup so that it aligns with social and cultural attitudes. It's fascinating to see these trucks evolve to address hot-button issues like greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.
That commitment to continuous improvement is evident in landmark product refinements like a modified hybrid powertrain in 2004 and a series of high-performance models, like the 345-horsepower 2003 Silverado SS and a limited production Dale Earnhardt-inspired Intimidator SS. Over the years, Chevy has also made a concerted effort to reduce greenhouse gases by pursuing alternative fuel technology. From EcoTec engines to the highly anticipated 2023 Silverado EV, big changes are on the horizon.
The first generation Silverado shared a platform with the full-size Suburban SUV and officially replaced the C/K as Chevy's full-size pickup in 1999. Throughout its 8-year first-generation run, Chevy manufactured the Silverado in light-duty 1500 (half-ton) and 2500 (three-quarter-ton) configurations. Eventually, Chevy added heavy-duty 1500HD, 2500HD, and 3500HD models to the lineup.
In 2000, the heavy-duty Silverado was offered with an optional 6.6-liter Duramax diesel engine that produced an unheard-of 520 lb-ft of torque. The first-generation Silverado received a mid-cycle refresh in 2003 and another in 2006. This cycle of continuous improvements encompassed styling, powertrain, and comfort/convenience features, keeping the Silverado competitive even as it approached the end of its generational life cycle.
During the first generation, the Silverado came in three different cab configurations: a standard (or regular) cab, an extended cab, and, by 2004, a four-door crew cab. The light-duty Silverado was offered with a series of Vortec engines that included a 4.3-liter V6 (195 horsepower), a 4.8-liter V8 (255 horsepower), and a 5.3-liter V8 (270 horsepower). In 2003, the company released a performance Silverado SS that received a 6.0-liter V8 engine with 345 horsepower.
In 2007, Chevy launched the second-generation Silverado. With a completely redesigned exterior and power boosts to the engine range, the truck's design incorporated aerodynamics improvements that led to better overall fuel economy. 2007 was also the first year the Silverado earned the coveted North American Truck of the Year award.
The second-generation lineup included five trims. Options ranged from a stripped, entry-level WT (work truck) to a more luxurious LS trim filled with power and convenience features, like keyless entry. As the Silverado progressed through this generation of its evolution, Chevy added even more creature comforts and tech. Navigation, electronic stability control, and adjustable pedals were a few of the available features.
It was during this time that Chevy first added a FlexFuel option to the Silverado lineup. This allows the trucks to run on an ethanol/gas mix, called E85, which proponents claimed was less damaging to the environment. From a performance standpoint, FlexFuel vehicles were slightly more powerful but had lower gas mileage. FlexFuel and ethanol-friendly engines fizzled out in popularity, but some say they paved the way for the current hybrid and EV trend.
As the Chevy Silverado entered its third generation, it received a lineup of new EcoTec engines that used modern features to improve both power and fuel economy. A powerful 6.2-liter V8 engine with 420 horsepower was added to the powertrain lineup, along with a smoother-shifting 6-speed automatic transmission.
From a styling point of view, nothing much changed with this new generation of Silverado trucks. Chevy customers preferred the classic exterior lines of previous generations, and thankfully, Chevrolet listened. Design refinements were limited to a few tweaks, including a new grille and stacked headlights. On the inside, Chevy continued adding comfort and technology features.
It was during this generation that customers were treated to the first true luxury Silverado trim. The Silverado High Country debuted in 2014 in both the light-duty and heavy-duty models. It featured a distinctive horizontal grille, massive 20-inch wheels, and an interior that rivaled that of the most elegant luxury import. Soft, saddle brown heated and ventilated leather seats and an infotainment touchscreen were both standard on the High Country.
What's new for the Chevrolet Silverado lineup in 2021? A lot, starting with increased towing capacity and the debut of Chevy's all-new Multi-Flex Tailgate. The tailgate features six different functions and is designed to make bed access easier and more convenient, but that's not all it can do. The Multi-Flex tailgate can handle 375 pounds of weight, making it a great resting spot, workbench, or game day buffet table.
Also new for 2021 is a suite of trailering technology systems that work together to make hook-up and hauling easier and safer than ever before. The Trailer Length Indicator helps drivers stay mindful of the extra trailer length during lane changes by automatically estimating the space needed to safely move over, then doubling that length and displaying it on the vehicle's touchscreen.
Other trailering systems include a new jackknife alert and a cargo bed camera view with bed hitch guidance that makes hooking up a breeze. There's also a rear trailer view with guidelines to help drivers safely back their trailers into parking spaces or boat ramps. There's even a rear side view enhancement that displays a split view when the truck is in reverse.
Perhaps no other upcoming EV is generating more buzz and excitement than the highly anticipated 2023 Chevrolet Silverado EV. It's still months away from launching, but Chevy has leaked a few details that caught our attention. We do know that it's slated for production in Michigan at GM's new Factory ZERO alongside the newly released GMC Hummer.
The 2023 Silverado EV is rumored to have up to 400 miles of driving range, a specification that will help hesitant buyers overcome distance driving concerns. Since the Silverado will be built on the same platform as the recently released all-electric GMC Hummer pickup, it is likely to offer similar dynamic powertrains with class-leading horsepower and torque.
Where it will differ significantly from the Hummer is styling. Silverado buyers value a more traditional pickup truck style, a fact that Chevrolet engineers won't overlook. We're guessing here, but we think it's a pretty safe bet that the Silverado EV will follow its gas-powered sibling's styling cues and not veer too far down the futuristic styling path.
We also expect a full trim range with offerings for all different buyers, including those seeking a basic entry-level work truck and discerning high-end buyers looking for luxury with all the bells and whistles. GM's Ultium battery system will power the 2023 Silverado EV. It's designed to scale up to 200 kWh, which is plenty of power to meet the demands of pickup truck ownership, including aggressive towing and payload capacity specs.
Without traditional combustion engines, Chevy EV models do not require the same kind of vehicle services or maintenance that you are used to. Fewer fluids - like oil - are involved, and you don’t even have to worry too much about your braking system, thanks to regenerative braking. There are also fewer moving parts, which means less wear and tear on the internal electrical systems. The only thing you need to keep an eye on is the battery life cycle.
As with traditional vehicles, batteries won’t last forever. The Ultium batteries, however, do tend to last longer than others. But once the vehicle reaches the end of its battery life cycle, the pack will need to be changed out.
