The Bolt EV has been Chevy’s premier Electric Vehicle (EV) for quite a few years now, and while their lineup is expanding, it remains an amazing option. With the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, it is clear that GM is really putting its focus on offering more EV models at the forefront of its business decisions. The 2022 model is fully updated, inside and out, while still retaining a hatchback design that makes it very useful and practical for a wide range of drivers. While the upcoming Chevy Bolt EUV might overshadow this standard model for some people, the hatchback Bolt EV is an impressive option all on its own.
For the model year 2022, the Chevy Bolt EV has been redesigned, offering a sleek new style that immediately catches the eye. It retains its powerful electric motor from previous years, with instantaneous acceleration and impressive torque that makes it a lot of fun to drive. That also means it keeps its terrific range of up to 259 miles on a full charge, but it has been updated with improved charging performance. That means it will be faster and easier to charge the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV than ever before, particularly at home, and it still supports DC fast charging for when you are on the road.
Inside the updated Bolt EV, you will find a gorgeous blend of luxury and sophisticated technology, including seating that is more comfortable than what you would find in previous years. There is a driver information display and an infotainment display, which are both large and easy to read, with technology that makes it fun to drive. Plus, the combination of standard and available safety features on the Bolt EV come together perfectly to help protect you and your loved ones on the road. Come visit us at Blossom Chevrolet to find out more, and let us help you discover the perfect vehicle for all of your adventures.
Since it is such a surprisingly affordable EV model, you might not expect much from the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, but it delivers an enjoyable driving experience. Much of this comes from the fact that its motor is quite powerful and offers more than you might think. It provides 200 hp and 266 lb-ft of torque, which is quite good for a sleek hatchback of this size.
As an EV model, that power is delivered quickly and efficiently, giving you instantaneous acceleration that really lets the Bolt EV zip along. The low-end torque is impressive, so when the light turns green, you will really feel that rush of power as you hit the pedal. There is also a one-pedal driving mode that you can activate with the push of a button, which lets you use a single pedal for accelerating and slowing. You will still need to use the brake pedal for sudden stops, but the boost to regenerative braking makes the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV easier and more fun to drive while also helping to improve your overall range.
With any EV model, you should consider the kind of range and charging experience it offers. This is one of the biggest concerns a lot of drivers have when considering the change to an EV rather than a car with a conventional internal-combustion engine. And it is a very understandable concern. While current EV models cannot yet match the speed of filling up a gas tank, the technology is improving every year.
The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV has the same battery and power system as the previous year’s model, which is good news because it was excellent. This means that you can get up to 259 miles of range from a fully charged battery. Real-world road conditions might impact this a bit, but using the one-pedal driving mode when it is appropriate can help boost your driving range – allowing you to come pretty close to this estimate.
Charging the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV is actually easier than ever before, thanks in part to the all-new available Dual Level Charge Cord, which you can use to plug into both a standard home outlet and the available home charging unit. Plus, the Level 2 charging from a charging station is now faster with the 2022 model, letting you fully charge a vehicle in about seven hours. The Chevy Bolt EV has support for DC fast charging, also called Level 3 charging, which lets you get about 100 miles of range in just 30 minutes.
Inside the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, you will find an updated interior that is a gorgeous combination of sophisticated luxury and impressive technology. The size of the interior is pretty much the same as the previous year, giving you plenty of room for passengers in both the front and rear of the vehicle. In terms of cargo capacity, you will find 16.6 cu.ft. of space in the rear area, with a hatchback for easy access, and about 57 cu.ft. of total cargo space with the rear seats folded down.
The front seats have been updated and redesigned to be even more comfortable than the seating found in previous model years. While some of the luxury features will vary based on the trim you choose, leather-appointed seating with power 8-way adjustable driver seat is available. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV features a sport-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel that just feels right when you consider the quick performance and handling it has to offer, plus an overall design that is comfortable for up to five people.
Interior technology is better than ever, starting with an 8-inch digital driver display that provides you with your gauges and any other information you need as the driver. There is also a 10-inch infotainment display in the center of the front dashboard that is perfect for choosing entertainment on the road and using the available 360-degree camera system. New for the 2022 model year, the Chevy Bolt EV has wireless support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so it is easier than ever before to listen to your favorite music, podcasts, and audiobooks. It all comes together beautifully to create a driving experience that is innovative and intuitive.
Any vehicle, whether it is conventional or electric, needs to help keep you safe on the road. While your safety might ultimately come down to the decisions you make behind the wheel, there are plenty of ways that a car can assist you and improve your reaction times and behavior. The 2022 Chevy Bolt EV has a fantastic selection of standard safety features for you to enjoy, with some additional ones available too.
Every Bolt EV for 2022 comes with the Chevy Safety Assist package, standard, so you get terrific features even if you do not choose any available options. This includes Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist and a following distance indicator to warn you when you are too close to the vehicle ahead of you. It also includes automatic emergency braking and a lane keep assist system with a lane departure warning to alert you when you are starting to swerve out of your lane. Every model also includes a forward collision alert along with front pedestrian braking to help protect you and others when you are behind the wheel.
While we do not yet have the full list of all available safety features coming for the 2022 Chevy Bolt EV, we do know some that will be offered. These include a rear park assist system, which helps you when backing into a parking spot, along with a lane change alert and side blind zone alert to warn you when someone might be hiding in your blind spot. There is also an HD Surround Vision system available, which includes a 360-degree camera setup that lets you see all around your vehicle on the infotainment display. With these available safety features, you and your loved ones are even more protected while you are on the road.
