  • Overview

There's a myriad of reasons why the 2024 Chevy Equinox LS is a fantastic vehicle. Base models are often overlooked, with some manufacturers neglecting them in favor of positioning the higher-tier models as the "must-haves." With the Equinox base trim, it's the opposite because the LS gives you not only the fundamental experience you'd expect but also more than what you'd expect for the price, both inside the car, outside, and under the hood.

With the 2024 Chevy Equinox LS, there's plenty of performance on tap that holds up with the pricier models, and Chevy has been exceptionally thorough with designing the 2024 Equinox LS with longevity in mind. When you need a compact SUV, whether it's for individuals, couples, or a small family, the 2024 Equinox LS is the ideal choice because it lets you push your dollar further than where it could go elsewhere.

  • Performance

Every 2024 Chevy Equinox is powered by the same engine linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged 1.5L I-4 engine promises a balanced blend of performance and fuel efficiency, and it excels at both. What's also great about the 2024 Equinox LS is that you have a trim option where AWD capability comes standard.

The 2024 Equinox LS also has Driver Shift Controls, which provide a way to manually switch gears. Your Equinox also comes with Automatic Stop/Start, which turns the engine off when the vehicle is stopped and back on when you take your foot off the brake, extending the life of the engine and helping fuel efficiency. The Equinox also offers a way to deactivate and activate it when you choose.

    Switchable AWD is Available

Under normal conditions, you'll drive your 2024 Equinox in FWD. But with switchable AWD, available on some trims, if it begins to rain, you take a turn onto a rocky path, or any condition that calls for AWD, then you can simply toggle it on. Driving with AWD slightly lowers the fuel economy ratings to 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on the highway. If driving with FWD, you'll get a slightly better turnout: 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. FWD means up to 417 miles on a full tank of gas––the 2024 Equinox models with FWD standard have a 14.9-gal fuel tank––while AWD models have a larger 15.6-gal fuel tank but a slightly lesser travel range of 406 miles.

As for the performance metrics you can expect from the 2024 Equinox LS, its turbocharged 1.5L I-4 engine provides a generous 175 hp and 203 lb-ft of torque. The Equinox LS can also tow cargo weighing up to 1,500 lbs, so while you won't need anything more than a Class I hitch, it's plenty to bring a small trailer of supplies and luggage for camping trips or a small boat. Your 2024 Equinox LS also supplies a MacPherson front suspension and StabiliTrak, greatly improving the standard AWD by providing greater control on harsher terrains.

    Seating

The 2024 Chevy Equinox LS has an interior designed to make any time on the road more enjoyable. Part of this is supplying a comfortable experience for both you and your passengers. One of the first things you may notice is the standard Active Noise Cancellation, which helps create a quieter environment inside the cabin and is especially helpful when traveling on the freeway. This compact SUV also comes standard with a 4-way, manually-adjustable driver's seat and has an available 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat for further customizability. The seats feature a comfortable and soft premium cloth material.

Regardless of seat configuration, the driver and front passenger chairs come with 2-way adjustable head restraints. However, if you upgrade to the LS Convenience Package, you also get 2-way power-adjustable lumbar support for the driver's chair. This package also positions a 4.2-inch Driver Information Center on your dashboard and deep-tinted rear glass on the rear windshield.

    Space for Everyone

Inside the Equinox LS is plenty of head and legroom, and cargo space is also a highlight. With the 2024 LS, you get 40 inches of front headroom and 40.9 inches of front legroom. In the front row, you and your passenger also get 57.2 inches of shoulder room and 54.2 inches of hip room. In the second row, passengers have 38.5 inches of headroom, 39.9 inches of legroom, 55.5 inches of shoulder room, and 51.7 inches of hip room. You'll be well provided with cargo space if you buy the Equinox LS, regardless of whether you have the back seats up. With everyone aboard for the ride, you'll have 29.9 cu.ft. of cargo space, and with the seats folded down, you get an amazing 63.9 cu.ft. of space for all your home projects or road trip needs.

  • Features

    Infotainment

Chevy strikes again with the 2024 Equinox LS because it's quite the feature-complete package, even if you don't opt for any of the extra amenities. Starting with tech, the 2024 Equinox LS comes standard with a Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System navigated by a 7-inch touchscreen. Although other Equinox trims may come with a slightly larger screen, the LS still gets all the features that matter most, like a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, which are essential features for modern drivers. And the convenient USB ports charge your phone on long drives.

In addition to the music selection on your favorite streaming apps, which you can access through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, traditional FM radio and a 3-month SiriusXM Platinum Trial Subscription come standard. So, if you enjoy access to your music, media, and apps, the Equinox LS trim has everything you need.

    Chevy's Teen Driver

Every 2024 Equinox LS comes with Chevy Safety Assist, and Chevy-exclusive features like Teen Driver. With Teen Driver, your Equinox LS becomes the go-to car for teaching newly licensed drivers in your household. Teen Driver is designed for families with new drivers who want to practice good driving habits as they learn to stay safe on the roads. It's not surprising that new drivers can make mistakes when driving. The faster these trouble areas are identified, the faster your teenager can become a better driver. With Teen Driver, you'll know how they did thanks to a post-trip report sent to your smartphone, and you can also set the speed, radio volume, and more.

    Standard Driver Assist Features

Chevy Safety Assist comes with several incredible features. Forward Collision Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Front Pedestrian Braking work in tandem to identify potential front-facing collisions with other vehicles and pedestrians and provide braking input to prevent or mitigate damage from accidents. You also get a Following Distance Indicator, which can help you maintain safe distances between yourself and other vehicles by the number of seconds it would take for your car to impact the one in front of you.

Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning also comes standard, which helps to keep your vehicle from straying into adjacent lanes or drifting off the road. Thanks to Lane Keep Assist and Lane Departure Warning, you can stay more vigilant while driving. Your Equinox also comes with IntelliBeam automatic headlamps, which can switch between high and low beams depending on daylight conditions and oncoming vehicles.

    Available Driver Assistance

The 2024 Equinox LS also offers the optional Driver Confidence II package, which adds more features to what you get with the standard Chevy Safety Assist. For example, this package offers Rear Park Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. With Rear Park Assist, you can reverse into a parking space, and your vehicle will warn you if you get too close to a stationary object.
When reversing out of a parking space Rear Cross Traffic Alert will identify cross traffic moving behind you and alert you until the path is safe to continue backing up. Also coming with the Driver Confidence II package is Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, which helps you keep track of objects in your blind spot before you switch lanes on the freeway.
