Since these are both smaller models, you are not going to find massive V8s here, but that is because they do not need that kind of power. While the Trax has a single engine to offer, which is great, the Trailblazer has two different engines for you to consider when choosing which SUV is right for you.
The engine for the 2021 Chevy Trax is a 1.4L four-cylinder turbo that delivers 155 hp with enough torque to get it up to speed quickly and make it a lot of fun to drive. This is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that is quite responsive, and overall the Trax is well known for offering a steady and reliable driving experience. In particular, its brakes have been highly regarded as delivering a very strong and firm feel that inspires confidence in the driver. You can get either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive with the Trax, and when properly equipped, it gets an estimated 26 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.
There are two different engines available for the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer, starting with an ECOTEC 1.2L three-cylinder turbo that offers 137 hp. You can also choose a 1.3L three-cylinder turbo that delivers 155 hp for a sportier driving experience and the option of all-wheel drive. Both engines come paired with a continuously variable transmission standard, which offers a smooth ride and quick acceleration. However, the 1.3L with all-wheel drive comes with a modern 9-speed automatic instead.

Both of these models are two-row vehicles with seating for up to five people, so you are not going to find the kind of interior room that a midsize or full-size SUV has to offer. That being said, they are still quite comfortable and spacious for passengers. In general, they both have similar amounts of passenger space. However, while the Trax only has 35.7 inches of second-row legroom, the Trailblazer offers 39.4 inches of legroom for your backseat passengers.
When it comes to how much cargo space you get in each of these vehicles, there are some important differences that you should keep in mind. The 2021 Chevy Trax has 18.7 cubic feet of rear cargo space behind the second row of seats, with 48.4 cubic feet of total cargo volume behind the front seats available. When you look at the Chevy Trailblazer, then you get a bit more space: 25.3 cubic feet of rear cargo volume behind the second row of seats and 54.4 cubic feet of total cargo capacity behind the front row. Chevy has packed both the Trax and the Trailblazer with a number of fantastic options, so deciding is still going to be difficult. Looking at the Chevy Trax LT, which is the highest trim available, you get a 7-inch infotainment display with support for both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with voice command functionality and a 6-speaker sound system. The Trax LT features multiple USB ports, along with deluxe cloth seating and a steering wheel with mounted controls. Remote keyless entry and remote start are standard, while leatherette seating, heated front seats, and a 6-way power driver seat are available. Other available features include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless open and start, and premium accents throughout.
There are more trims available for the Chevy Trailblazer than the Trax, which makes it a bit difficult to compare them fairly. Looking at a similar LT trim for the Trailblazer, you get a 7-inch infotainment display, 6-speaker sound system, cloth seating, and a 10-way power driver’s seat with heated front-row seats. This LT trim also includes wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with keyless open and remote start.
If you go up to the more expensive RS trim for the Trailblazer, then you get a leather-wrapped steering wheel, 3-inch monochromatic driver display, and impressive safety features. Available options for the Trailblazer include an 8-inch infotainment display, additional power outlets, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. A panoramic power sunroof is also available for certain Trailblazer models, along with a wireless charging pad, a Bose premium sound system, and a 4-inch full-color driver display. These features will make the Trailblazer more expensive than even the highest trim of the Chevy Trax, but if you are interested in this level of luxury, sophistication, and impressive technology, then the price can be well worth it.
