The 2020 Chevy Malibu hits the road with a sleek modern design that is futuristic, yet sophisticated enough to serve as a daily driver. The 2020 Chevy Malibu rethinks the modern sedan, allowing owners to have it all. Peppy yet fuel-efficient, the Chevy Malibu commands the road with style. Up front, the nose features sleek lines and purposeful edges. Available LED daytime running lights add style, while sleek, wing-like LED tail lights and dual exhaust outlets create a sporty design. Meanwhile, the 2020 Ford Fusion features modern, yet somewhat uninspired styling. It features thin headlights and an oversized grille set on a shark nose. Its long body carries your eyes to its rear, which features a thin set of LED tail lights, available rear spoiler and an integrated dual exhaust. Beyond styling, there are many other differences to compare between the 2020 Chevy Malibu vs 2020 Ford Fusion, like performance, safety, and tech features.
To test-drive the incredible 2020 Chevy Malibu, make your way to Blossom Chevrolet and see just how perfectly the Malibu fits into your life.
Featuring two powertrain options, the 2020 Chevy Malibu is always ready to get up and go. Standard is a peppy 1.5L turbocharged four-cylinder that is good for 160 horsepower and 187 lb-ft of torque. Paired to a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), the Malibu returns an incredible EPA estimated 36MPG on the highway and offers a fuel range of up to 568 miles.
A 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder is also available, and it pumps out an adrenaline-rushing 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, the sporty variant still manages to return an EPA-estimated 32 MPG on the highway.
The 2020 Ford Fusion is powered by a choice of three gasoline powertrains. Standard on the Fusion S is a 2.5L Duratec® naturally aspirated four-cylinder that turns out 175 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. Paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the Fusion S returns an EPA-estimated 31 MPG on the highway, which is extremely underwhelming when compared to the efficiency of the Malibu’s standard engine.
The next two power options get close to those of the Malibu. The 1.5L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine turns out 181 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque. Paired to the same six-speed transmission as the Fusion S, the 1.5L manages to return an EPA-estimated 34 MPG on the highway. The fastest of the trio is a 2.0L EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that generates 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. Also paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2.0L engine option manages to return up to an EPA-estimated 31 MPG on the highway.
The 2020 Chevy Malibu hosts a suite of available driver aids to prevent the likelihood of a collision. Available Forward Collision Alert will notify you if it detects that you are following a vehicle too closely or if the vehicle ahead suddenly stops. Meanwhile, its available Adaptive Cruise Control system uses radar technology to keep a preset gap between you and the car ahead of you. This system will slow your Malibu down and bring it back up to speed as traffic conditions change, never forcing you to disengage cruise control in traffic. To further enhance the protection of you and those around you, available Front Pedestrian Braking will automatically apply the brakes if it senses that a pedestrian is in your vehicle’s path.
Standard on every Fusion is Ford Co-Pilot 360™ which features a suite of driver-assist technologies to prevent accidents, much like the Chevy. Some of these features include Lane Keeping System, a rearview camera and Automatic Emergency Braking.
Inside, the 2020 Chevy Malibu features an intuitive design with fine appointments. Available dual-zone climate control allows both the driver and passenger to ride in comfort, while a large sunroof is available that really allows you to let the light in. Available heated and cooled driver and passenger seats provide comfort and convenience, while an available leather-wrapped steering wheel adds a touch of premium appointment to the cabin.
Connecting drivers to the world around is an available eight-inch multicolor touchscreen display that boasts Chevrolet’s Infotainment System 3. The intuitive system features smartphone mirroring systems like Apple Carplay® and Android Auto™ so that calls, texts, navigation and even your favorite playlists are all available at a touch of the screen on the same familiar interface as your mobile device. Available wireless charging ends the need to reach for cumbersome cables, while available Wi-Fi with 4G LTE Hotspot allows all your passengers to surf, search and stream without ever missing a beat. Helping young drivers move forward is available Teen Driver Technology. The system coaches new drivers with report cards and Buckle to Drive technology, which will not allow them to shift the car into gear if their seatbelt is not buckled.
Keeping you connected in the 2020 Ford Fusion is an eight-inch touchscreen display that uses Ford SYNC® tech technology. However, drivers will have to pay extra to receive the latest SYNC 3 system. Plus, the Fusion offers conveniences like Wi-Fi 4G LTE Connectivity that allows you and your passengers to connect up to 10 devices, as well as Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
