Production of the Chevy Cruze was kickstarted in 2008 and was released in the United States for the 2011 model year. It was quickly realized that this was the compact car that America needed. Four different trim levels are available for the new Chevy Cruze, the L, LS, LT, and Premier. No matter which one you choose, this sleek sedan is powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Continuously variable valve timing helps push efficiency to a new level, while peak output is respectable at 153 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. All but the Premier trim can be had with a six-speed manual transmission, but a six-speed automatic is available as well. While being entertained by the 2017 Cruze is important, even more critical are the many safety innovations. Unlike most compacts, the 2018 Cruze features a cabin that's modern, filled with premium materials, available leather seats and a Bose® sound system. The hatchback has the most cargo space with up to 47.2 cubic feet available once the back seats are folded down — that's nearly 4 more cubic feet than the Focus. Among the new Cruze sedans, the L and LS models have the largest trunk space with 14.8 cubic feet — more than the 13 feet offered by the Corolla and the 12.4 cubic feet the Mazda3 provides.
