Five well-appointed trim levels are available for the 2017 Chevy Malibu. They're named the L, LS, 1LT, Hybrid, and the top-of-the-line Premier. The 2LT trim has been discontinued for the 2017 model year.
The new Malibu is powered by three different engine options. The base 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine works with the aid of a turbocharger, plus variable valve timing and direct injection. It pumps out 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission is mated to the engine.
Premier models use a more potent 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, which is rated at 250 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. New for the 2017 Malibu is a nine-speed automatic transmission.
