Chevy’s popular full-size SUV, the Suburban, returns for another exciting year on the market. The Suburban has long been known for delivering exceptional comfort and interior space for passengers and cargo, making it a go-to vehicle for busy families or anyone with substantial passenger and cargo needs. Today, we’re going to look at the safety features of the 2025 Chevy Suburban. Chevy has brought the Suburban back with some popular staples of its safety features, along with some exciting additions to keep you in command, whatever the roads ahead have in store.

The Connected Cameras System

Have you ever wished you could keep an eye on your SUV, even when you’re nowhere near it? With the new Connected Cameras system, now you can. This new feature contains a set of cameras that allow you to monitor both the inside and outside of your vehicle. It even boasts a 360-degree exterior view, so you can see what’s happening all around your vehicle. You’ll access these camera views through your myChevrolet app. So, why is a system like this so useful? It’s not just for checking on your Suburban when you’re in the office; it can be tremendously valuable in the event of a collision or theft.

When a crash happens without a Connected Cameras system, you fall into a game of he-said-she-said with your insurance company and the company of the other party involved, granted they have insurance. With the Connected Cameras system, your insurance company doesn’t have to take your word for what happened because this camera system actually records collisions. You can provide video evidence of the event, which can streamline the process of claims, repairs, and payouts.

Some customers ask us, “What happens if someone runs into my vehicle while it’s parked?” The system will catch these events, too. It’s designed to begin recording when it senses certain types of movement, like those associated with crashes or break-ins. So, if someone attempts a hit-and-run on your parked vehicle, the system can catch their vehicle information to increase the chances you receive the compensation you deserve.

This system will also be a vehicle-saving one in the event of a theft. If your insurance doesn’t cover a lost or stolen vehicle, then vehicle theft can leave you tens of thousands of dollars in the hole. But the Suburban’s new Connected Cameras system records events of theft. So you can present that footage to local law enforcement authorities and increase the chances of getting your vehicle back.

Interior Motion Detection

The Interior Motion Detection system nicely complements the Connected Camera system. It is designed to monitor the inside of your Suburban and pick up on small movements that could indicate an attempted theft or a child or pet left inside the car. Here’s how it works: if the system detects movement in the cabin when it’s in park and turned off, it will set off a series of progressively more intense alerts. It will activate the alarm, triggering the horn and lights. It will also activate the Surround Vision Recorder, which is part of the Connected Cameras system if equipped.

You have enough to worry about between family, work, and other obligations. It’s nice to know that should someone attempt to steal your vehicle, or if a hit-and-run occurs, you won’t be left empty-handed or on a wild goose hunt trying to find the perpetrator. These smart systems can give you the hard evidence that you can show local authorities and your insurance company, removing the mystery of what happened.

Chevy Safety Assist

The 2025 Suburban returns with the ever-popular Chevy Safety Assist suite of driver-assist features. It includes Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking, which will activate hard braking should you fail to bring the vehicle to a stop in time to avoid a collision. It also has Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking, so if you’re at risk of running into a person on foot or a bicycle, the emergency braking system will also take over.

Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning is also a part of this suite of features. It monitors lane markers and alerts you if you’re drifting from your lane. It can also take over steering to guide you back into your lane when necessary. Plus, you’ll get IntelliBeam, a set of smart high beams that automatically turn on in low light settings and turn off when they sense oncoming traffic.

An HD Surround Vision camera is also included, which gives you a way to continuously monitor what’s happening around your vehicle. When combined with the Enhanced Automatic Parking Assist, which uses ultrasonic sensors to help you detect an eligible parking spot and can even steer you into it, you have a group of features here that make getting into and out of tight spots a breeze.

The Suburban will also have the highly popular Teen Driver system. A hugely valuable feature for parents of new drivers, Teen Driver lets you control certain elements of the vehicle when your new driver is behind the wheel. For example, you can limit how fast the vehicle can go and how loud the volume can be turned up on the stereo. You’ll also access a useful driver report card where you can see things like how often the emergency braking was activated and how often the driver exceeded the speed limit. It’s never easy talking to teens about safe driving habits, but Teen Driver makes it a little easier.

Buckle to Drive comes standard, too. This feature prohibits the vehicle from shifting out of park if the driver’s seat belt is not buckled. So if you’re checking a text, adjusting the temperature, or otherwise generally distracted when you start the ignition that you forget to buckle up, the Suburban will remind you.

Chevy’s Super Cruise

Drivers of the 2025 Suburban will get to enjoy Chevy’s hands-free driving system, Super Cruise. If you frequently tackle long drives, you can reduce driver fatigue with Super Cruise. This technology relies on a combination of GPS, cameras, sensors, and LiDAR map data (a 3D map of the earth’s surface) to determine your location as well as keep your vehicle centered. It also works in collaboration with Adaptive Cruise Control to take over accelerating and braking to maintain your desired speed while also maintaining a safe following distance. Super Cruise works on over 400,000 compatible roads in the US and Canada, so it’s ready to take over some driving functions for you almost anywhere you want to go.
