If you’ve paid attention to what vehicles are out and about lately, you’ve noticed there are a lot of SUVs out on the road. Compact SUVs are the automotive market’s leading segment. In that highly competitive field, the Chevrolet Equinox has been the long-running leader of the pack. Since its debut in 2005, the Equinox has forged a path to the top built on quality, innovation, and style. Over three million of this compact SUV, Chevy’s second best-selling vehicle across all segments, have been sold.

With that legacy behind it, the 2025 Chevy Equinox is ready to launch a new generation of the award-winning SUV. This refresh includes a redesigned exterior, an interior tuned towards exciting technology updates, and new features for safety and capability. This latest iteration of the compact SUV is poised to remind everyone why it’s led the pack for years and will continue to do so.

New Generation, New Look

Muscular and refined, the newest iteration of the Equinox radiates a blend of brawn and style. The body settles into a lower position, with a slightly longer hood and a more pronounced, upright front end. The square wheel wells are one of the most eye-catching features, which enhance the compact SUV’s robust personality. Seen from the front, the 2025 model sports a resigned grille and fascia and squared wheel wells, adding bolder body lines. The overall profile of the Equinox feels higher, making its powerful presence known with a quiet sort of dignity. The taillamps are now comma-shaped, bookending the sides of the back end and enhancing the new curves.

Solid Capability Remains Steadfast

The Equinox’s brawny style isn’t just for show. The new 1.5L Turbo engine unleashes 175 hp. In the available All-Wheel Drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission propels the Equinox along. In front-wheel drive, it uses a continuously variable transmission. With the RS or ACTIV trims, you’ll have access to drive modes that can be switched as easily as turning a dial. In FWD, you can choose between normal and snow modes. AWD offers an additional off-road mode.

When equipped with available AWD, the 2025 Equinox can tow up to 1,500 lbs. This capacity is great for towing small tandem axle utility trailers and 20-foot aluminum boat trailers. With many compact SUVs boasting trailering capacities around the same size, some camping trailer manufacturers are beginning to create campers within that weight limit. It’s an exciting time to be towing in your Equinox.

The ACTIV Trim Has Arrived

One highly-anticipated update to the 2025 Equinox is the addition of the first-ever ACTIV trim. In the Chevy lineup, the ACTIV trim package focuses on off-roading and outdoor driving. The style tweaks to the exterior elevate the presentation of the Equinox from athletic to outdoor adventurer. In addition to the trim-specific grille and fascia, an available white roof is exclusive to the trim. The two-tone roof option allows you to pair it with five of the six available colors to create a bold splash of contrast.

The ACTIV trim continues to impress with additional content like premium Evotex and suede microfiber seating. A Maple Sugar and Black interior theme highlights the modern-styled interior of the Equinox. If you like an extra touch of comfort, heated and ventilated front and rear seats are available. Another excellent available feature is driver seat memory. No one wants to spend ten minutes trying to readjust their seat after someone’s borrowed the car; with the 2025 Equinox, you don’t have to.

An Interior Built to Enhance Your Ride

The interior of your car is important. No matter how beautiful the exterior, how much horsepower, or other features it has, without a good interior, it’s just not going to be a great driving experience. The Equinox recognizes the importance of giving the driver a comfortable, spacious, and engaging interior. Contemporary design is paired with a touch of luxury inside the 2025 Equinox. The interior has been styled with an emphasis on high-quality textures and attention to detail, adding tiny flourishes to an already aesthetically pleasing design. The heated steering wheel and front seats are standard across the trims, a much-appreciated touch in cold weather. The 60/40 split-bench seat folds up to create 63.5 cu.ft. of storage in the back, with an additional storage compartment hidden under the rear floor.

Infotainment is an integral part of modern driving. Whether listening to your favorite music or podcast or catching up on the news, the six-speaker audio system will keep you entertained with excellent audio quality. At 11.3 inches, the center touchscreen in the 2025 model is more than 30% larger than that of the 2024 model. This screen offers access to music, media, maps, and other connected services with available Google built-in. The driver information center, set behind the steering wheel at an eye-friendly height, is a full 11 inches and angled slightly toward the driver for ease and convenience while driving. On this screen, the driver can easily see the speedometer, other gauges, and alerts.

Safety Never Goes Out of Style

The 2025 Equinox continues Chevy’s emphasis on safety and driver assistance technology. As with all new models, the Equinox comes standard with Chevy Safety Assist, six features that focus on keeping drivers and passengers safe. Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Front Pedestrian and Bicyclist Braking alert the driver to an impending collision. If the driver is unable to apply the brakes in time, they will automatically be deployed to prevent or lessen impact. The Following Distance Indicator and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning focus on some of the common needs drivers experience to decrease the chance of collision by alerting the driver to shortening distances between them and the car in front of them and lane drift. Also included standard is IntelliBeam, which helps the driver by automatically turning high beams on and off based on surrounding conditions.

In addition, the Equinox will come standard with Side Bicyclist Alert, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and Enhanced Lane Keep Assist to help drivers keep track of possible collisions in their blind spots. Adaptive Cruise Control keeps the car at a steady speed with a safe following distance. Rear Park Assist will help prevent parking lot accidents with the help of the Rear Vision Camera.

Chevy cares deeply about the entire family, which is why Rear Seat Reminder is another standard feature in the 2025 Equinox. With this alert, you will be prompted to check the backseat for children and pets before leaving the car. The Teen Driver technology will be available standard on all trims, helping turn the Equinox into an excellent car for the youngest driver in your family to learn safe habits behind the wheel. This group of features allows parents to set speed and stereo volume limits and access other features to reduce distracted driving. Report cards are available through the myChevrolet app to help track your teen driver’s progress.
