When browsing Chevy trucks, there are so many options that it can seem overwhelming at times. With a total of 41 configurations, for example, the 2020 Chevy Silverado 1500 literally offers a truck for nearly everyone. No matter what your needs are, you can find a truck explicitly outfitted for you. The hard part is finding the truck that’s perfect for you. So we thought it would be helpful to take a look at one of the more popular trims—the LT—and see what makes it such a good fit for most people.

The first thing you might notice is the starting price is incredibly reasonable. At $38,495, you get just about everything you need and a little more, which makes this trim an incredible value. There are also lots of available options, such as three engines to choose from, and all of the modern-day technology you could ask for. There is a reason why this is such a popular trim—the combination of affordability and convenience makes it a hard trim level to look past. Imagine finding a truck reasonably priced that has just about everything you need. That’s the LT trim in a nutshell. So let’s take a look at what exactly you’ll find standard in this Silverado 1500 model and what options are available when you move up to the “Luxury Touring” trim.

Powertrains

With three engine options, you know you’ll be able to find the perfect engine for your needs. The standard engine is a 2.7-liter turbocharged inline-4 that is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. This is a great engine, especially as the standard option. Most people will not need more power than this engine provides. You can see the LT trim’s value already building with this engine. With 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque, you’ll have sufficient power at your disposal. This engine is rated to tow 7,000 lb, so you’ll be able to hook up a trailer and tow with confidence. You’ll also be pleasantly surprised by the excellent gas mileage you’re getting with this engine. The 2.7-liter engine is rated at 20/23 MPG, so you won’t be sacrificing fuel efficiency for the power that comes with this engine.

If you need more power, however, there are options for you. Chevy has a big V8 for you if you’re looking to tow and haul a little more weight. It’s a 5.3-liter V8 with Dynamic Fuel Management and an 8-speed automatic transmission. This engine boasts 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Chevy’s fuel management system also returns great fuel efficiency for such a big engine, getting 17/23 MPG. Your towing capacity increases to 11,600 lb with this available engine as well. This is another great option with the raw power you need to get the job done. And with the bonus of good fuel efficiency, you can even commute to work with this big engine when you’re not using it to fix up your house.

The other optional engine is new to the Silverado LT trim for the 2020 model year. Chevy is offering a diesel option for the first time, which is really exciting to see a diesel engine at an affordably priced trim level. And it’s a good one. The 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel inline-6 comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and gives you 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of low-end torque. With this kind of power, the possibilities are endless. And you’ll find the fuel economy just as exciting: 23/33 MPG. You’ll find the abundance of torque useful for towing and off-roading, among other things. This engine can tow up to 9,400 lb, so you’ll be able to take on big jobs and pull the boat to the lake without a problem.

Interior and Technology

The LT trim for the Silverado 1500 includes lots of onboard technology and convenience features to ensure your daily drive is more comfortable than ever before. Let’s take a look at what comes standard with this model. We’ll start with one of the more surprising options to find standard at this level: an 8-inch touchscreen. Yes, that’s correct, and you’ll find even more tech standard. The driver information display is upgraded with a 4.2-inch color driver information center. This configuration also includes 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability, which allows you to use the internet wherever you go. It is also OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services capable. With so much onboard tech, you will be able to stay connected to your family and friends.

Other standard features include a tailgate with EZ lift and lower assist, LED headlamps, and a 40/20/40 split-bench front seat with covered armrest storage. You can see just how much value Chevy has packed into this Silverado configuration. It’s already capable of being an extremely competent daily driver, built for the family, while also being just as capable off-road and on the job site.

At this trim for the Silverado 1500, you also have many options. This level opens you up to heated front seats, for example. So you have the opportunity to turn your truck into a luxury truck, essentially. Dual-zone automatic climate control is another option to consider, as well as a high-def backup camera.

All-Star Edition

The LT trim also brings the opportunity to upgrade with the All-Star Edition package, which adds even more convenience and comfort to your drive. With this package, you’ll find keyless open and start as well as remote start. Passengers in the second row will also find two charge-only USB ports so that everyone can keep their devices charged while on the road. LED cargo bed lighting is also included in this package, so you’ll be able to see your cargo in the bed even when it’s dark. A rear window defogger is another addition you probably didn’t know you need until you had it. There’s also a power lock and release tailgate with lift assist included in the package. These are features you will only find in the upper trim levels, so having this available luxury further increases the value of the LT trim for your Silverado.
